Group Home Manager

SUMMARY:

Manage an eight or less-bedroom group home for adults with developmental disabilities. The group home manger oversees the physical facility operations; managing and maintaining the residence to provide a safe, clean and comfortable home environment. Actively participates in and/or oversees all areas of care for all consumers in the home. Supervise and assist with training direct support professionals, ensuring staff compliance with all agency policies. The Group Home Manager must be a strong team player and role model for staff and consumers. This position reports to the Residential Services Director.
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Direct Reports: Group Home Assistant Manager
Group Home Direct Support Professionals
Work Schedule: Varies; based on the needs of the group home and/or residential services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ability to maintain flexibility to work any hours requested within a 24 hour period.
2. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
3. Must be capable of giving, receiving, interpreting and applying verbal and/or written instructions and directions.
4. Maintain a safe environment for everyone.
5. Ability to pass and maintain Ravalli Services training sequence, which includes First-Aid, CPR, MANDT(management of non-aggressive adults with disabilities), State mandated Medication Certification, and College of Direct Supports.
6. Ability to acquire training to support individuals with special needs; wheelchairs, walker, lifts and other specialized medical equipment as well a positive behavior supports.
7. Ability to acquire knowledge of the habilitation process, policies and procedures for DPHHS-DDD Habilitation training, principles of community integration and normalization, and techniques of non-aversive training acquired through completion of identified sections of in-house training programs.
8. Develop and maintain a positive and effective relationship with consumers, families, guardians, neighborhood businesses, representatives of public service agencies, and other co-workers of Ravalli Services.
9. Assist in and maintain compliance of the services of the residential setting to standards prescribed by Ravalli Services and the State Department of Public Health and Human Services.
10. Assist each consumer with basic living skills (e.g., social & domestic) through specific instruction and encouragement. Assist with personal hygiene as needed (e.g., bathing, brushing teeth, shaving, nail clipping, dressing and overall general appearance).
11. Perform or assist consumers’ with basic domestic duties as needed (e.g., cooking, cleaning and laundry).
12. Complete all paperwork required by Ravalli Services, the State of Montana and Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) (e.g., daily checklists, medication administration records, mileage logs, Incident reports, case notes, timesheets etc.). Serve as a good role model, maintain good personal boundaries with all consumers’ and co-workers; display and maintain professionalism at all times.
13. Insure all client and corporate funds are accounted for, providing appropriate receipts.
14. Provide in-home and community supervision according to the individual needs as determined by the PSP team for each consumer.
15. Create all written protocols, execute great communication skills ensuring that appropriate parties have received correct information and have been trained on any changes.
16. Review and pre-approve group home recreations, with appropriate activities while ensuring appropriate staffing for consumer needs and safety.
17. Responsible for and ability to maintain confidential information.
18. Carry emergency cell phone on a rotating basis; responding to emergency needs in a timely manner as required during any given hour of any given day. Willing to assist other group homes as part of their chain of command.
19. Determine and maintain eligibility for financial assistance programs (i.e. Social Security, Food stamps, Medicaid etc.) and assist consumers with personal financial decisions and funds management. Assist with Representative Payee Reports.
20. Assist with monthly medication preparation, including creating and updating medication administration records.
21. Assist with all medical appointments; including documentation, notifications and follow through with any recommendations from doctors, etc.
22. Complete required PSP paperwork for consumers (i.e. Assessments, PSP updates, Release of Information’s, Create Action’s and Training Goal on Checklist and etc.) and attend PSP meetings.
23. Ability to cope with stressful circumstances and to cordially interact with co-workers to accomplish common tasks and goals.
24. Actively participate in required group meetings as well as individual meetings to maintain consistency and follow required guidelines for all consumers.
25. Create and enforce schedule for staff members ensuring appropriate coverage in all necessary areas.
26. Complete weekly relief staff scheduling.
27. Provide in depth staff training and guide staff members in the appropriate direction; ensure staff compliance with agency policies and issue corrective actions to staff when necessary.
28. Maintain appropriate billable hours for the group home and follow budgeting guidelines.
29. Assign and create staff job duties.
30. Ensure all appropriate paperwork is turned in by designated deadlines.
31. Ability to multitask and be flexible with your schedule based on of the needs of the site.
32. Problem Solve with staff members to assist with conflict resolution.
33. Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

1. The position requires education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree, or a high school diploma, completion of occupationally-specific training and one year of experience providing educational, vocational, residential, or community services to persons with disabilities.
2. Knowledge of the habilitation process, training program management and practices, policies and procedures for DPHHS-DDP habilitation training, principles of community integration and normalization, and techniques of non-aversive training acquired through completion of identified sections of in-house Competency Based Training Program.
3. Teach and demonstrate independent living skills to assigned consumers (Know the whole PSP process, write case notes, perform assessments, etc).
4. Ability to pass a criminal and other background checks.
5. Possession of a Montana Drivers license and have a clean driving record in order to meet the requirement for insurability to be covered by company vehicle insurance.
6. Ability to successfully perform all the responsibilities shown above.
7. Ability to establish and maintain professional; effective, harmonious, working relationships.
8. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders, including but not limited to staff, consumers, family members, medical professionals and community members.

Group Home Services Assistant Manager

SUMMARY:

This position will teach and demonstrate community living skills to consumers with developmental disabilities. Establish and maintain good working relationships with consumers, family\friends and outside professionals. This person will participate in routine operations of the facility which includes assistance with meal preparation, arrangement of health care, monitor facility maintenance, cleaning, transportation and recreational opportunities. This person will provide safety training to all consumers. This position reports to the Group Home Manager

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Direct Reports: None, unless the Group Home Manager is absent

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ability to maintain flexibility to work any hours requested within a 24 hour period.

8. Develop and maintain a positive and effective relationship with consumers, families, guardians, neighborhood businesses, representatives of public service agencies, and other co-workers of Ravalli Services.
9. Assist in and maintain compliance of the services of the residential setting to standards prescribed by Ravalli Services and the State Department of Public Health and Human Services.
10. Assist and document the development and implementation of action plans and training goals for consumers, as developed by each consumer’s Personal Support Team under the supervision or direction of site manager.
11. Assist each consumer with basic living skills (e.g., social & domestic) through specific instruction and encouragement. Assist with personal hygiene as needed (e.g., bathing, brushing teeth, shaving, nail clipping, dressing and overall general appearance).
12. Perform or assist consumers’ with basic domestic duties as needed (e.g., cooking, cleaning and laundry).
13. Daily and monthly paperwork which may include; completing or assisting with and/or ensuring the completion of all safety tests, facility checklist, water checks, mileage log, fuel logs, vehicle, daily checklists, medication administration records, mileage logs, transportation logs, attendance, t-logs, GER/ Incident reports, case notes, recreation schedules, fire drill, emergency drill, timesheets, etc. as required by Ravalli Services, the State of Montana and Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP)
14. Serve as a good role model, maintain good personal boundaries with all consumers’ and co-workers, ability to manage work time effectively and maintain professionalism at all times.
15. Provide in-home and community supervision according to the individual needs of all consumers.
16. Follow all written protocols.
17. Excellent communication with other staff members on shift, during shift changes as well as with site manager is imperative.
18. Responsible for and ability to maintain confidential information.
19. Carry emergency cell phone on a rotating basis with other Assistant Managers and Group Home Manager on a rotating basis; responding to emergency needs, in a timely manner and as required during any given hour of any given day.
20. Determine and maintain eligibility for all assistance programs including but not limited to; SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare and other programs as needed. Assist consumers with personal financial decisions and management.
21. Assist with monthly medication preparation, including but not limited to creating and updating medication administration records, medication protocols and medication packets. Ensuring needed medications are readily available and packaged as needed.
22. Assist with all medical appointments; including documentation, notifications and follow through with any recommendations from doctors and other health professionals.
23. Complete required PSP paperwork for consumers (i.e. Assessments, PSP updates, Release of Information’s, create Action’s and Training Goal on Checklist, etc.); attend PSP meetings as assigned.
